Files are getting bigger, online storage cheaper, so I started my search by reading this TechCrunch review. Apart from eSnips, I don't recommend any of them. Omnidrive.com had flash, java and ajax problems. The others in the review weren't much better or cost money. Another I saw recommended was humyo.com (and its UK version 123-reg.co.uk/online-storage-drive/) but again I found access problems.

The websites below all offer FREE storage. Most file types are accepted but might be deleted if you try to share illegal, porno or copyrighted material. Some offer premium options if you want to spend your money. I have grouped them into 4 types, each with a different emphasis. If you use a free online storage site that you recommend, please let us know.

Semi-Permanent Storage

o Mainly for images which can be hotlinked

o Storage time is vague
o 400mb max upload size
o Very simple interface so this is good if you want to share a file for a short time

Permanent Storage
(As above but long-lasting storage)

5. drivehq.com

o 1gb storage and 1gb download per month
o Upload and backup tools including ftp
o Many sharing options
o Email and web publishing included
o The best interface and possibly the best online sharing/storage solution if you want options to upgrade to allow for all future eventualities

(The main focus is on communities and sharing and fun. Storage is thrown in free)
